"Clocks" moved forward & sunshine reins = "siqinguraq" in Inupiaq Eskimo
Travel to Fairbanks to donate blood & see a friend.
I hardly traveled to Fairbanks during the winter months after October but now we have sunshine and daylight over 12 hours a day. It makes all the difference.
Easter was nice with family and friends stopping by at the shop for snow crab, bison ribs, ham and baked chicken plus loads of salads and desserts.
Sarah Wright Bevard has opened up "Happy Glow Lucky Tanning" in the Jarvis West building. She also tells me that she is going to be getting one of those water jet massage therapy beds. With the Chiropractic Office, Massage Business downstairs and now Happy Glow Lucky Tanning~this building offers a perfect "get a away" for those tired springtime bones & muscles! It's be a great Mother's Day Gift Package too (hint)!
Came home from town, the Alaska Farm Bureau is planning their annual spaghetti dinner & auction for scholarship for April 11th. They will also be sponsoring the annual farm tour which will take place in the Tanana Loop area on July 17th.
I'm also excited about the Donnelly Ascent Run held on June 29th (contact Matias Saari @ 347 - 9192 for more info) and the Pipeline Run in the Late Night Sun held July 25th at the Deltana Fairgrounds (contact John or Sammy Sloan @ 895-4383). Maybe this will give me the incentive to begin my walks on the treadmill and out of doors. Check out the Running Club North Calendar 34th annual edition online at www.runningclubnorth.org

Winter Fun in the March "Sun"= "Siqiniq" in Inupiaq
Hannah and Russ came out snowmachining with the nice weather and sunshine. Buck, Scott, Russ and Rodney went out snowmachining and visiting friends along the river.
DHS graduates, Katrina Brown and Melissa Jackson, came out and helped me count the main herd of bison at the game ranch. It was great to see them and have the help.

To "feed" the calves = "nigipkaq" in Inupiaq Eskimo
Scott took some photos of our 10/11 month old calves yesterday. They are looking so adorable as a smaller replica version of their parents. They are still leery but he has tamed them down as, since October, he has grained & hayed them. After the fence comes down sometime in May, they will no longer receive special treatment. They will no longer receive any grain either. We have found that by separating them, graining & haying them separately, they are stronger and more able to join the older herd. Enjoy.

Feeding a herd of "headstrong" bison = "sivunmuutu" in Inupiaq Eskimo

When the younger bison herd we have at the home place is fed, the "pecking order" is jostled around. At this time, animals can get gored, jumped on to be pushed out of the way and possibly hurt. We spread the hay out the best way and fast as we can in order to avoid as much unpleasant interaction as possible.

Game board renews Delta Junction moose hunt KTUU
It was a whirlwind with all the hunters who came up for not only moose hunting but then the cow moose season at the same time as the bison hunts. It's happening again. It's always hard for me to butcher a cow of any species. How do you feel?
