Bison are "headstrong" = "sivunmuutu" in Inupiaq

Chocolatefest
http://www.tailorednews.com/TMsubscribe/ViewOnline.asp?u=hkaNv1LiyeiNw

People often ask, "Are bison tame?" Well, never. There have been plenty of incidents where a person raises a "pet" bison only to have it turn on them. They are wonderful creatures that require respect and understanding. These animals have gotten to trust Scott but they are still weary and jumpy.

"Mountain" woman = "iggi" in Inupiaq Eskimo

Traveling to Anchorage, the roads were a bit icy. The temps have now changed from about -43oF to 35oF above..in less than a week. Alaska! Had a flat in Glennallen, lucky to have Sparks Auto there to fix our tire. We had picked up a large concrete nail...........hated to think of being alongside the highway, trying to change a flat on the narrow mountain road! Katrina, Brittany and Wanda came by: Below is a pic of Katrina trying on a bison robe & looking like a "mountain woman" for sure! Leslie and Landon here on the steps. A nearly full moon and pink sunset on our return home. Not much snow in Paxson.

Hello -40oF! A little bit of a "draft" = "agla" in Inupiaq Eskimo

Well, I guess it was anywhere from -30 to -40oF in & around Delta. A quick trip to town.
Here's what Delta Junction looks like on January 11th at subzero temps.
Glen Wright from Delta Lock & Key keeps busy in & around Delta with his business.
The troopers were out, ol' timers out checking their mail and people getting groceriess...also stopped in at FSA, NRCS, CES, Busy Bee, Interior Building Supply, Alaska Motor Coaches and did business. Ate a quick lunch at the Poorboy Restaurant.
Said hello to the new boss at the "First Student" bus company. Came home to Scott cutting up a bison for burger, dogs howling wanting & not-wanting to go outside and a mamma & baby moose grazing along the fenceline.

Thank those at the Post Office
& IGA for serving the community! I remember when IGA was under various business owners & barely had groceries stocked on their shelves and we'd travel to Tok or Fairbanks to stock up. The next time you are in the store, thank Ed, Gayle, Karen, Ron, Julie and crew for all they do for us!

Hunts at the Game Ranch

We are still having hunts at the game ranch. They will continue for a short period of time. The animals are taken quickly and humanely. They are well cared for, with 2,000 acres, it still takes a quality marksman/woman to take an animal. Our herd in increasing and with each year, we get more established.
