Bison are "headstrong" = "sivunmuutu" in Inupiaq

People often ask, "Are bison tame?" Well, never. There have been plenty of incidents where a person raises a "pet" bison only to have it turn on them. They are wonderful creatures that require respect and understanding. These animals have gotten to trust Scott but they are still weary and jumpy.

All The Years

Where have all the years gone?
They said the day would come.
The day when whispers were heard.
The day when quiet was in the home.

Where have all the years gone?
We raised so many children.
The farm and family were our life.
The quiet is nearly deafening.

The seasons come much closer now.
But the winter years and winter months seem to linger and fade so slowly.
The summer brings light and smiles.
We are the generation now.
We are the ones they talk about.
Gone are our parents,
Gone are our youth.
Retire? No, I don't think so.
Retire to what?
To solitude, boredom and nothingness?
No, loving this farm and family means too much.
We will work till we're gone from this place.
We will wake every morning with our list of chores and things to do.

Where have all the years gone?
I hope there are many more to enjoy but reflection is upon us.
We work, reflect and love.
